Product Description

Farrow & Ball Sudbury Yellow No.51 is a soft, traditional mid yellow. It takes its name from the staircase at Sudbury Hall, where the renowned colourist John Fowler used it to great effect.

Farrow & Ball pair Sudbury Yellow with White Tie as its complementary white, and list it as an accent colour for their Traditional Neutrals. Their suggested schemes combine it with Railings and Tanner's Brown or House White and New White.

How does Sudbury Yellow look in different light?

Farrow & Ball describe Sudbury Yellow as particularly responsive to changes in light. It reads cleaner and brighter in well lit rooms, and softens in dimly lit spaces.

Where to use Farrow & Ball Sudbury Yellow No.51

In dimly lit spaces, Farrow & Ball suggest setting Sudbury Yellow alongside a stronger contrast such as New White, where it takes on a softer look. In well lit rooms it appears cleaner and brighter.

Choose Estate Emulsion or Modern Emulsion for walls and ceilings, Dead Flat for a completely flat look across walls and woodwork, and Flat Eggshell, Modern Eggshell or Full Gloss for woodwork and cabinets. For exteriors, choose Exterior Masonry or Exterior Eggshell for breathable, weather-resistant performance. Casein Distemper is also available in this colour.
