Barrettine Patent Knotting is a fast-drying Shellac dissolved in alcohol, intended for application over knots and resin-rich sections in wood to seal them before painting. This serves both indoor and outdoor purposes. By utilizing Patent Knotting, the natural resins present in wood are shielded from being dissolved by paint solvents, thus preventing them from permeating to the surface and causing discolouration of the painted finish.
After usage, it's essential to thoroughly clean brushes with Barrettine Methylated Spirits right away. It's important to note that this product is not recommended for situations where water-based or lighter-coloured modern paints will be applied. For such scenarios, White Knotting should be employed.
