Sandtex Quick Drying Stabilising Solution
Sandtex Quick Drying Stabilising Solution is a water-based primer designed to prepare and stabilise chalky, dusty, or weathered exterior masonry surfaces prior to painting. It penetrates porous substrates such as render, pebbledash, brickwork, and concrete blocks, binding loose particles to create a sound base for subsequent paint layers . This clear solution is easy to apply with a brush and is ready for overcoating after approximately 4 hours.
For optimal results, ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Remove any loose or flaking material with a stiff bristle brush, and treat areas affected by mould or algae with a suitable fungicidal wash. Apply one liberal coat of the stabilising solution without dilution, allowing it to fully dry before proceeding with masonry paint . Coverage varies depending on surface texture, typically ranging from 6 to 10 square metres per litre.
This product is particularly beneficial for surfaces exhibiting signs of chalking or excessive porosity, as it enhances paint adhesion and longevity. By consolidating the substrate, it helps prevent premature paint failure, ensuring a durable and professional finish.
