The Little Greene Gustav Wallpaper is a unique discovery with a rich history. This design, dating back to around 1875, was found in Eagle House, a Jacobean manor in Wimbledon. Despite its somewhat deteriorated condition, archivists estimate its origins as mid-late 18th century. What sets it apart is that it appears to be a classic block print, but upon closer examination, it becomes apparent that some of the flowers on the original were painted by hand and then applied over the pre-printed trail as part of a decorative border. The pattern's scale is reminiscent of a large damask design, and the muted colourways adapted for the 'Archive Trails' collection ensure that it can be used throughout a room without overpowering the space.
