Little Greene - Jack Black (119)
Jack Black is an ultra-deep, true black. Crafted using soot-based pigment, it delivers refined depth and works particularly well on feature walls, cabinetry or interior woodwork where you want bold impact without heaviness.
Jack Black
Jack Black (119) is a truly deep and intense black, described by Little Greene as “absolute black.” The pigment, derived from soot collected from burning oil, gives it a rich, velvety depth. With a very low Light Reflectance Value of around four per cent, it reflects minimal light, creating a dramatic and grounded effect that feels both powerful and sophisticated.
Stylistically, Jack Black creates striking contrasts on walls, cabinetry, doors, and woodwork. It pairs beautifully with neutral tones such as Mid Lead Colour or French Grey, and complements richer shades like Bath Stone or Hicks’ Blue for an elegant, layered effect. For bolder accents, colours like Tivoli can add vibrancy against its deep, grounded backdrop.
Because of its low Light Reflectance Value, lighting is an important consideration. In poorly lit areas, Jack Black may feel heavy and intense, while well-lit spaces allow its depth and richness to shine. Its highly pigmented formulation may require a good undercoat on lighter surfaces, but washable Intelligent finishes ensure practical durability in high-traffic areas.
