Farrow & Ball - Pigeon (25)
Pigeon being a stronger version of Blue Gray is perfect for use in Boot Rooms, Cloakrooms and all panelling, as used in the late 18th century. It is softer and bluer than a more contemporary grey like Mole's Breath and is well suited to cosy darker rooms like studies and TV rooms. It is also very popular on kitchen islands with the more delicate Mizzle on units. Dark Tones Undercoat.
Pigeon
Pigeon 25 is a cosy, somewhat nostalgic blue‑grey, inspired by the subtle tones of a pigeon’s plumage. It’s softer and bluer than some more modern greys, giving it a gentle, classic character rather than feeling harsh or overly cool.
This shade works particularly well in more intimate or traditional spaces. Farrow & Ball suggest it for cloakrooms, studies, boot rooms, or in panelled rooms where its depth can be appreciated. It’s also surprisingly popular on kitchen islands when paired with a more delicate shade like Dimpse, creating a balanced contrast.
Under different lighting, Pigeon can shift character. On its own, it feels reliably grounded and slightly muted, but in brighter light its bluish undertone becomes more visible, lending coolness and sophistication.
Farrow & Ball recommend School House White (No. 291) as a complementary white. Pigeon’s versatility makes it a great choice alongside both traditional and contemporary palettes, especially when you want a neutral that brings elegance, softness and depth without being flat or overly trendy.
