Farrow & Ball - Dimity (2008)
Dimity is named after fabric originally used to make bustles but now more usually used for bedding. It is part of our Red Based Neutrals group and has a delightfully warm undertone which makes it perfect for little girl's bedrooms or for elegant, understated hallways. It can be combined with All White or Pointing if you want it to read more pink or with the darker Oxford Stone on woodwork for a more relaxed look.
Dimity
Farrow & Ball's Dimity is a soft and delicate off-white shade that exudes understated elegance and warmth. Named after a type of lightweight cotton fabric, Dimity has a subtle hint of grey and red undertones, giving it a gentle, muted appearance. This nuanced colour provides a sophisticated alternative to pure white, offering a softer and more nuanced backdrop for interior spaces.
Dimity is particularly well-suited for creating a calm and inviting atmosphere in bedrooms, living rooms, and dining areas. Its understated charm allows it to complement a wide range of furnishings and decorative styles, from classic and traditional to modern and contemporary. The muted quality of Dimity enhances natural light, helping to create a sense of openness while maintaining a sense of warmth and intimacy.
Colour Schemes
Farrow & Ball's colour card includes a large range of gentle neutrals with matching bold accents. This makes it very easy for anyone to choose a colour scheme for their home.
All White and Pointing
All White: All White is exactly what it says! Unusually, it contains no other pigment except for white, creating the softest most sympathetic colour without the colder blue undertones of a brilliant white.
Pointing: This fresh and uncomplicated white is named after the colour of lime pointing used in traditional brickwork. One of Farrow & Ball's Red Based Neutrals, Pointing has a warm undertone to it which creates the prettiest of spaces when used on walls and always softens the feel of a room alongside strong, traditional colours.
Joa's White and Oxford Stone
Joa's White: A warm Red Based Neutral named after Farrow & Ball's first Colour Consultant Joa, who still develops many Farrow & Ball colours. Joa’s White is a light and clean taupe with the merest hint of black pigment which makes it perfect to combine with the limestone, leather and linens often used in contemporary homes.
Oxford Stone: This classic dark taupe was inspired by the cottages found in the pretty Cotswold villages of Oxfordshire. It is the darkest of Farrow & Ball's Red Based Neutrals and sits contentedly with both Joa’s White and Dimity for a pared down neutral scheme.
London Stone and Red Earth
London Stone: A warm mid brown, London Stone was created by John Sutcliffe for a classic Nash house in Regent’s Park. With its underlying magenta tones, this unassuming stone colour is the perfect accent for each of Farrow & Ball's Red Based Neutrals.
Red Earth: This light terracotta hue takes its name from the very soil beneath our feet. Red Earth is a rich blend of red and yellow pigments which create a warm earthy feel in homes both old and new.
