Earthborn Paints have announced Freckle as their Colour of the Year for 2026. This soft, warm clay shade sits between a muted terracotta and a gentle brown-orange tone. It’s designed to bring comfort and calm, with a connection to the natural world that feels both grounding and uplifting.

Inspired by earthy materials and natural pigments, Freckle carries what Earthborn describe as “feel-good vibes”. The colour adds warmth and understated richness to interiors, making it ideal for creating inviting, soothing spaces without being overpowering.

Freckle is available across Earthborn’s full range of finishes, including Claypaint and Lifestyle. As with many warm mid-tones, its appearance changes with lighting conditions and surrounding décor, so testing a sample before decorating is recommended. It pairs particularly well with soft neutrals, muted greys, natural timbers and even green accents for a balanced contrast.

This versatile colour works beautifully in living rooms, dining spaces or as a feature wall, complementing natural textures like wood, stone and linen. In darker rooms it may appear deeper and cosier, while in brighter spaces it reads as softer and lighter. To offset its warmth, cool-neutral trims or furnishings can be used for a harmonious finish.
