Polyvine Crackle Glaze

Polyvine Crackle Glaze is a water‑based decorative coating designed to create a controlled crackle or crazing effect on prepared interior surfaces, offering a classic aged or distressed finish often used in shabby chic, vintage and decorative paint effects. It’s primarily used over a base colour (usually an acrylic paint) and beneath a topcoat, producing a network of fine cracks that allow the base colour to show through, adding depth and visual interest to furniture, doors, cabinets, decorative panels and feature walls.

The product works by creating differential drying rates between the base layer and the overlying glaze. When applied to a suitably prepared and primed surface, the Crackle Glaze causes the finishing coat to break into a pattern of delicate fissures as it dries. The size and style of the crackle can be influenced by factors such as the thickness of the application, the drying conditions and the contrast between the base and topcoat colours, giving decorators creative flexibility in achieving everything from subtle antique effects to more pronounced distressing.
